SHORT BIOGRAPHY William Moses is a professor of art and coordinator of emotional intelligence assessment at Gallaudet University, Washington, DC. For the past four years he has been working with the First Year Experience program teaching classes and training faculty, staff and student teaching assistants in the use of active learning techniques to address curricular goals. During his tenure at Gallaudet, he has served as chair of two different departments, was special assistant to the provost for program review, then dean of the School of Communication. He led the University's successful 1991 Middle States Commission on Higher Education review, coordinated strategic planning efforts, and has been instrumental in securing major grants supporting student pre-professional opportunities. Bill is a certified practitioner of group psychotherapy and psychodrama, a certified emotional intelligence trainer, and a founding member of the Alliance for New Music Theatre. With his varied background, he has taught in several departments at Gallaudet including art, theatre arts, counseling, social work, and clinical psychology. Prior to coming to Gallaudet, he served on the faculties of Kent State University, Case Western Reserve University, and Western Connecticut State University. In addition to his numerous professional presentations and ongoing research related to emotional intelligence, Bill continues his artistic endeavors as a painter, playwright and librettist.
