SHORT BIOGRAPHY Ms. Jerri Lyn Dorminy has been a part of the Gallaudet University community since she enrolled in 1987 as a new freshmen student. Gallaudet was a life-changing experience for her. Her work as a student paraprofessional in a variety of student work experiences, including Resident Advisor, Peer Advisor, Peer Health Advocate, and Head Resident Advisor, shaped her future career goal of working with college students. Earning an M.S. in Administration and Supervision, Jerri Lyn began her work as a Coordinator of Residence Education in the freshmen residence halls, moved on to become an Academic Advisor and eventually moved over to work in Student Development Programs and Orientation. Currently she works with the First Year Experience as Orientation Coordinator and an instructor of the First Year Seminar class while continuing her education at the University of Maryland College Park as a doctoral student in counseling and education, focusing specifically on college student development. Her passion is guide deaf college students in achieving their fullest potential and to become future leaders and citizens in our global community. She thrives on the energy and passion and life experiences of all of the students that she works with on a daily basis.
